Aye Do Designs was officially born in 2003 following a twist of fate that saw Joan Hetherington, the Creative Director taking the plunge from simply designing and making jewellery on a
small scale for charity to the highly successful on-line jewellery
brand that it is today.
Joan Hetherington has a natural design flair and an eye for trends,
based on her extensive background and recognised training in
the textile and fashion design world, where she sold her
designs to many highly respected
brands such as:
- DKNY
- Burberry
- Ralph Lauren
- Esprit
- Gap
- Saks Fifth Avenue.
Following years of training, Joan slowly branched out independently and followed her dream of making and designing jewellery for brides, ‘I wanted to create beautiful pieces of jewellery for brides on their big day, to make them feel wonderful wearing something that is rich in design and quality without a huge, designer price tag’.
Whilst her original creations were immediately snapped up, it took a series of events including a flood which destroyed old stock to an accidental meeting with a business guru, who had seen one of Joan’s creations advised her to drop everything else that was going on in her life to follow her dream as she would live to never regret it. Hence, Joan took the plunge, set up new premises, created the Aye Do collection, met with reputable suppliers and set to work.
Today, 4 years on, Aye Do Designs is one of the UK’s leading on-line jewellery brands, having received orders from thousands of brides who have bought tiaras, earrings, necklaces, bags, and bracelets for their big day. These brides still remain customer’s years on, regularly buying items as gifts for others, or items for themselves as a simple treat!
